My Biggest Secret To Success: One Word To Live By
I have a HUGE secret to share with you today. I mean it’s so big it will change the way you do business forever. Okay, that may be a little bit of a stretch, but I promise you that this post will help you become more successful as a small business. If I could meet you in person, share a cup of coffee and give you one piece of advice this would be it.
So what is my secret to success? It’s not a complicated theory or even a hard to implement the process. It’s just five simple principals that
Never promise something you cannot deliver or if you do make a promise make sure you over deliver. Don’t ever lie to your readers or customers about anything. Honesty will always be the best policy. Just like with personal relationships truth is the foundation of all business relationships.
Always be respectful, not just to your readers and customers but also your competition. There is nothing that will paint you in a negative light more than being disrespectful. This is especially true when working in an online environment when comments can easily be taken out of context. Always be mindful of the tone of voice of your comments.
Be unique. Don’t try and be someone your not and please don’t try and be exactly like everyone else in your niche. People read blogs and buy from businesses they can relate to so use your voice to your advantage. And don’t worry about being perfect, just be you and people will love you. And whatever you do don’t forget to color outside the lines.
Be of service to your readers and customers. You should always strive to help people as much as you possibly can. You’re in a unique position do a lot of good for a lot of people. And this isn’t limited to just your readers and customers either. You can leverage your place to help those less fortunate than yourself. I always try and give back when and where I can as a service to those who have helped me get to where I am. You never know whose life you may change.
Take the time to get to know your readers and customers. I mean really get to know them. Take time to connect with them in a real and personal way. Even when things are crazy and you feel overwhelmed take a moment and reach out to a few customers. Get their feedback on what problems they are facing so you can help create a solution. You take time every day to craft amazing content and grow your business so take a little time to get to know your audience.
As you can see my business philosophy is all about building trust. Trust is the biggest factor in success, but trust isn’t something you give to your readers or customers it’s something they give you. If you lose your audience’s trust it’s very hard to ever get it back. But if you follow these five principals I can guarantee you will see your audience return again and again because they believe in you and your business.
